- BFD gives you your own drum studio,with complete control of 7 real drum kits
plus additional hats, snares and cymbals. Every drum is recorded from eleven
different mics positioned around the kit and room so you can mix your drums by
blending the mic sources just like in a real studio.
BFD's high quality drum sample library has an unparalleled degree of realism. For each type of drum type in each kit, there are a number of different styles of 'hits'. Each of these 'hits' is sampled at up to 46 velocity layers, resulting in drum parts of superior detail and expressiveness.
BFD was recorded in the drum room at a top Californian recording studio by professional engineer Steve Duda (NIN, Pitchshifter, A Perfect Circle) using over $50,000 worth of microphones from Neumann, Sennheiser, AKG and others. The drums used range from the 1920s to 2002, and include both classics and rarities.

BFD เป็นซอฟแวร์ที่ทำมาเพื่อกลองโดยเฉพาะ มีฟังก์ชั่นต่างๆครบถ้วนตามที่กลองจะทำได้ โดยได้บันทึกเสียงกลองจริงๆของยี่ห้อต่างๆไว้โดยละเอียดมาก เช่น Pearl , DW , Ludwig เป็นต้น ในแต่ละเสียงจะบันทึกผ่านไมโครโฟน 11 ตัว ที่ตำแหน่งต่างๆกัน โดยที่ตัวโปรแกรมจะมีระยะ Room Mic , Overhead Mic , PZM ไมค์ให้เราเลือกได้ด้วย เหมือนว่าคุณอยู่ในสตูดิโอบันทึกเสียงจริงๆ ยกตัวอย่าง เสียงสแนร์ ที่สามารถแสดงน้ำหนักการตีต่างกันได้ถึง 46 แบบ โดยการบันทึกเสียงทั้งหมด ได้ทำที่สตูดิโอ Californian Recording Studio โดย Engineer ชื่อ Steve Duda ด้วยไมค์ยี่ห้อต่างๆ เช่น Neumann, Sennheiser, AKG เป็นต้น และได้นำกลองรุ่นต่างๆ ทั้งเก่า ทั้งใหม่มาบันทึกเสียง
ตัวโปรแกรมทำออกมาให้เห็นภาพจริงๆของอุปกรณ์ต่างๆ สวยงานและใช้งานไม่ยาก ลองศึกษาแป๊บเดียว ก็น่าจะเข้าใจหมดแล้ว แต่เนื่องจากข้อมูลมีขนาดใหญ่มาก ตัวBFDเดิมๆ ก็ 3 DVDs แล้ว ยังไม่นับตัวเสริมของมันอีก ทำให้ต้องใช้ทรัพยากรของคอมฯสูงมาก จึงจะรัน BFD ได้ทันกับ MIDI แบบ Real Time ที่มีการแนะนำคือ DDR RAM > 1 GB และระบบวินโดว์ควรมี CPU > 3 GHz ขนาดคนที่ใช้เครื่อง Mac ยังต้องเป็นรุ่น G5 ขึ้นไป พร้อมหน่วยความจำระดับ > 1 GB จึงจะไม่สะดุด
ต้องถือว่าเป็น Soft Synth ของกลองที่สมจริงที่สุดในเวลานี้ แต่ก็ต้องใช้ทรัพยากรของเครื่องคอมฯมากเช่นกัน เป็นหนึ่งในซอฟแวร์ดนตรีที่ห้องอัดต่างๆควรมีไว้ หากไม่อยากเสียเวลาเซ็ทกลอง บันทึกเสียงกลองเอง
